The program

Applications for the 2012 Attorney-General's Department Graduate Program are open from 21 April to 2 June 2011. To apply, please go to the Department's Job Office.

During our 12-month program, graduates will complete three work rotations across the Department. These rotations will give graduates an opportunity to work in a wide range of areas and to develop a broad set of skills.

Two rotations will be primarily policy-based, while the third rotation could involve program management, legal advice or case work.

Training

Graduates will undertake a range of training throughout their graduate year, including:

Training will be run in a variety of ways including both online and face-to-face sessions.

Relocation assistance

The Department offers relocation assistance for graduates from interstate. This package includes allowances for moving household possessions, temporary accommodation upon arrival in Canberra for up to three weeks and motor vehicle allowance to cover the cost of travelling to Canberra.

Life after the Graduate Program

Once you have successfully completed the Graduate Program you will be advanced to an ongoing (permanent) APS Level 5 or Legal Officer position with a starting salary of $63,202 plus superannuation (as at February 2011).
