Family Violence Prevention Legal Services - Operational Framework - June 2006

Publication date: June 2006

Author: Family Violence Unit

Background

Family Violence Prevention Legal Service (FVPLS) units are community controlled justice, advisory and referral centres for victims of family violence.  The units provide practical assistance and emotional support to people seeking to deal with the effects of family violence.

This Framework defines the way units should operate, the services to be provided and includes a summary of all reporting and management requirements.  The Framework supports the FVPLS in managing the operations of the unit and relationships between the auspice body (if applicable), the management committee and the Board.

If an auspice body of FVPLS unit is unable to comply with any requirements contained within the Operational Framework, individual cases must be put in writing to the Attorney-General's Department for determination.
