
International Pro Bono Advisory Group Goals
Promoting international pro bono work by Australia’s legal profession
- provide a forum to circulate information about international pro bono opportunities
- through the International Pro Bono Advisory Group website:
- provide links to contributors’ websites including case studies of international pro bono projects
- link to international organisations that can facilitate overseas capacity building or pro bono work, and
- through the International Pro Bono Roundtable raise profile of and share views about international pro bono
Building effective partnerships in overseas legal capacity-building and access to justice work
- promote information sharing in and between Advisory Group meetings
- encourage Advisory Group members to leverage off the knowledge and expertise of individuals and organisations involved in overseas capacity building and bring ideas back to the Advisory Group, and
- encourage partnerships on the ground to facilitate the delivery of legal capacity-building and access to justice work
Facilitating effective coordination between the private sector, the non-government sector, existing in-country structures and Australian Government funded projects that address international law and justice needs
- facilitate coordination by encouraging the establishment of practical partnerships between all sectors (private, non-government and Government) to undertake pro bono projects
- identify opportunities for enhanced cooperation and coordination, and
- develop guidance for ensuring coordinated activities
