Crime Prevention Competency Standards
The development of national competency training standards and training resource materials for crime prevention practitioners is an important step in achieving a sustainable reduction in crime in our community.
Once endorsed, the standards will be a valuable resource for police, community crime prevention officers, the security industry, and a wide range of workers in the health and community service sectors. It will consolidate the work undertaken following from the earlier Crime Prevention Training Needs Assessment, and will involve national consultation with key stakeholders.
The project has been undertaken in close cooperation with ANTA, the Local Government Training Advisory Board, and other relevant industry and crime prevention agencies.
The contract for the project was awarded to the Centre for Research in Education, Equity and Work, University of South Australia.
The standards have now been endorsed by ANTA as part of the Local Government Training Package.
