Attorney-General's Department
The Australian Government Attorney-General's Department is the central policy and coordinating element of the Australian Government Attorney-General's portfolio, for which the Attorney-General and the Minister for Home Affairs are responsible. The Department provides expert support to the Government in the maintenance and improvement of Australia's system of law and justice.


International Legal Services Advisory Council (ILSAC)
ILSAC is a part-time advisory body which provides advice to the Australian Government Attorney-General on issues relevant to international legal services. International commercial dispute resolution (ICDR) is one of its major areas of focus. The Chairman of the Council, the Hon Sir Laurence Street, AC KCMG QC, is a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales who now practises as a mediator.


National Alternative Dispute Resolution Advisory Council (NADRAC)
NADRAC was established by the Australian Government to provide independent expert advice to the Australian Government Attorney-General on the development of high quality, economic and efficient ways of resolving disputes without the need for a judicial decision.


Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has more than 80 overseas posts. The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) is a statutory authority within the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio. It is governed by a board, whose members are drawn from business and government, that helps Australian businesses looking to develop international markets. Austrade also provides advice and guidance on overseas investment and joint venture opportunities, and helps put Australian businesses in contact with potential overseas investors. It reports to the Minister for Trade.


Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research 
The Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research operates a number of programs designed to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of Australian industry. It promotes the use of ADR for resolving disputes in various industry sectors.
